It all began in the early 1930's.
My grandfather, Fred Wilk, the founder, had a vision to
establish his own dress shirt manufacturing company. By
1935, a manufacturing facility located in Camilla, Georgia
was built and an office was established in New
York City. During the early years my grandparents and relatives
worked together in both locations.
Long hours, faith and a deep commitment to customer
service enabled Wilk to prosper and expand. In
1948, my father,
Alan, (Fred's son-in-law and a graduate of Syracuse University)
arrived on the scene. Business prospered, the factory
was expanded contractors were added to the manufacturing
mix.
By 1960 Wilk was an established private label dress shirt
manufacturer.
Then in 1973 my grandfather passed
away suddenly, a few days after my 21st birthday. My father
became
president
and with the help of Dick Catlin, Wilk continued to
prosper. I graduated from American University in
1974 and immediately
joined the business.
In 1985 we began importing and manufacturing
worldwide. We've continued today in expanding globally
and
diversified our product mix. At the present time, I
am President and my father continues as C.F.O. Our
product
offerings have continued to increase with several
new joint ventures firmly in place.
Today we manufacture and import
dress and woven sport shirts, sleepwear, workwear and flame
retardant children's
sleepwear.
We have changed our trading name from Wilk Shirt
to Wilk International to better
describe our business. Our goal
is to expand our customer base and improve our product
offerings while maintaining our original philosophy
-
customer service.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
